Okay... I've been stuck in this damn art block for now weeks...
I thought i would never be able to finish this on time.
This image was drawn for :icondrayokstar: 's contest "If you could bring your character to life".

Some details on this picture...
The dragon on this picture's name is Kanshàarah. It's probably one of the older true character I ever have.
The last time I drew it... It was life 3 or 4 years ago...And I suddenly had this urge to draw it again when i heard about Drayokstar's contest.

It actually comes from a graphic novel project i had with a friend. (still have?) We've been working on the story for so long time but then we had to focus on other stuff including studies... So yeah the project wasn't exactly abandonned but currently noone's working on it.

Let me explain some things if anyone's interrested.
"Kanshàarah" in one of the language we started to make for this world comes from "Kân" : master and "Shàarah" : Magic, energy, but aslo knowledge.
It's supposed to be the most ancient being on this earth and incarnation of the Earth's split energy. That's why it's called "the pillar" who maintains the equilibrium of the world.
With each era comes a new pillar, Kanshàarah was the very firt pillar of all times and the story takes place at the very end of this era. The story ends with its death.
Before the death of the pillar the world usually passes through a terrible period of war, destruction and near apocalypse state.

Now here i come to the answer of "why i wouldlike my character to come to life".
For some time now... I've been obsessed with the End Of Times. I have a strange feeling about this. I've been dreaming of apocalypse every day for a week..
Gloomy skies vomiting a dark rain of warm ashes. Silent ruins lying in haze and water...

Well this image pictures Kanshàarah, and me (the little crappy human at the bottom) looking at the world tearing itself appart. The dragon knows everything, it doesn't care to die since it is its fate. It's just here to witness, serenly with no emotion. Whereas I'm desperately looking for answers, reasons, explanations...
However it's like a guide to me. I wish I could find in Kanshàarah's blind gaze the answers to all thoses questions about life, death, art, beauty, reason, mankind...
No better moment to receive theses answers when they're about to be completely useless...Since everything will vanish into nothingness...

I don't really know how to explain this in a better way :/
-----

Well this is the very first drawing ever i made using Painter.
Although it was done aproximately 10% painter 90% Photoshop. I hope i will be able someday to make pics full Painter. Since I really love this program and the effects of many brushes.

This character is mine and has been mine for a long time so please. Don't steal it, trace it or whatever and do not please use this image without written permission. Thank you very much.

I :worship: Nutella!

Criticizing is easy, art is difficult.

"Dies irae, dies Illa, solvet sæclum in favilla
Teste David cum Sybila"
Really? This dragon has a very very complex story... I can't really tell much here. But i feel really attached to it so i'm glad you think it's convincing :)

This is really beautiful
And that fact about thoughts about the end of the world:
"I've been dreaming of apocalypse every day for a week..
Gloomy skies vomiting a dark rain of warm ashes. Silent ruins lying in haze and water..."
Maybe because every kind of destruction allways brings a new beginning, a renewing. A new start and the chance to make things better

When I die burry me UPSIDE DOWN so the world can KISS my ASS
Good stuff. I can't ever remember my dreams - I've had a few half-assed attempts at trying but I haven't succeeded.

Nice and thought-provoking bit of commentary, you have made it convincing. I hope you finish the graphic novel, it sounds neat.

And the End o' Times, eh? Could happen, could happen. I have a crowbar, and a towel, so I'm prepared. Good luck.

Have Interesting Failures.
Thank you very much Federschein, my little apple. :D
Well in fact.. In the story, at the very moment of its death.. It instantly rots leaving behind...An egg. Who's the new Pillar...
But in my dreams there was no new chance, no renewal. But it was beautiful... In a strange disturbing way but beautiful.

Well I remember every single of my dreams... Every night. And most of the time they're not precisely fun ones. But some are particulary clear, precise and has a unique texture to them.. Those I call visions. Although ithey has nothing to do with foretelling. It's just that i like the word, it seems to fit them.
I always wanted to make pictures out of thoses visions but never succeded... I have them written somewhere and remember them precisely i just don't have the skill.

by the way, why do you say the commentary was a bit provoking?
