Looks like something you'd find at a cryptid museum. Were you inspired by cryptozoology at all?

In a way. I remember seeing an exhibition at the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle a few years back about monsters and chimeras. There were a few skeletons and taxidermy mounts made of different animals made in the 19th. They used to display them in cabinets of curiosities.

That, along with real chimeras and other biological monsters are always a big inspiration.

True. Actually the first time a person submitted a Platypus for taxidermy they thought it was a hoax.
